That will be helpful when I catch the sniffles later this winter;-)

I read the Mermaid Chair too. I thought it was good, but I think because it took place in the south and I was trying to get the hell out of there at the time...well I think that tainted the story for me. All I kept yelling at the charactors was "leave your husband" "don't be a monk anymore, idiot!" and "please, please escape the south!!"

Yeah, I know, but at least it got emotion out of me? I love Adam Sandler's goofy stuff, to tell the truth, but he does a good job with the less goofy stuff, too.

Jay - You could have a funny one on hand as a chaser. :) It wasn't really sad, just very emotional. I think it had a positive ending, but there's some very powerful stuff along the way.

Winters - thanks. :) It's good to be able to get my ass (and other parts) kicked again. Then again, maybe not. :-P I'm wondering if I'm going to get a massive bruise that I can't even blog. That happened once before - a massive trophy bruise that I couldn't even show anyone besides MuNKi. Bummer!

~d - LOVE the new avatar! BRILLIANT! :) I, too, loved the Secret Life of Bees. The Mermaid Chair, while a completely different story, is along the same sort of lines - woman finding herself. I just loved it. I also really enjoyed her nonficition book The Dance of the Dissident Daughter.
