Well, technically MI is a desert climate, but in the late 1700s (pre-statehood), the people living here created a ton of man-made lakes by digging their asses off. Due to erosion, most of the lakes now appear to be natural formations. There's no sand, but there are a lot of rose quartz pebbles and churt. Don't fall down, obviously. The one obsidian beach is definitely a shoe beach!

There are beaches in Michigan? I bet you're going to tell me there are ski resorts on the UP too.
