I Can Go ANYwhere. . .

Like Jamie, it's about time for me to take a trip on the Reading Rainbow. My Empire has expanded to include many new treasures. I am, for instance, in Possession of A Dragonfly in Amber, and The Historian 'round these parts assures me that it's rather valuable and well worth my time, not to mention the numerous Star Wars artifacts that have come my way.

So I warn you in advance that if my self-discipline holds out at all, my posts will be sporadic and devoid of any real substance. (Em. . . no, don't say it. ^_^ )

Seriously, tonight was a record night for adult class (18 of us) and it was like a BookFest! I brought a book to show to 2 friends, one of them brought a book to return to me (and I'd have brought another I have for her had I known she was coming) and 2 completely different friends brought one each to give me. Yoikes! We were joking that we need to put up a list of available books on the corkboard and people who want them can sign up for them. Discussions will then be held during stretching. ^_^

In other news, I suspect that GuTTer MuNKi is cheating on me with some SKÄNKA at IKEA, but if the guilt scores me more BILLYs, I can hardly complain. ^_^

"I'll see you next time." (yeah, I had the hots for him, too.)

Not to worry, Candace. No need to keep a lid on this: The SKANKA has a pot belly that MuNKi will soon tire of. Not to mention the huge love handle. What he doesn't see in her, he can boil in her.

Dammit gawpo, you beat me to it.

I love book #9, in that star wars artifacts link: "Pimps, Whores, and Welfare Brats: From Welfare Cheat to Conservative Messenger, The Autobiography of Star Parker"

You see? Your posts do have substance. And a theme!

I love sporadic posts that are devoid of any real substance.

Happy reading!

I loved Reading Rainbow - I submitted a short story to them when I was younger for a contest. I didn't win, but it was a good story. I should try to find it.

Gawpo - groooooooaaaaan! But seriously, I love a good pun or four. Did you know that Gawpo means "punnster" in Sweitzerdelarian?

Pete - I hate it when that happens. But never fear. I know I can always count on you for a good pun, too. Your reputation is undiminished.

Uh, I think I only have 1-3. What the hell is #9 doing in that list? I hadn't scrolled down that far, and I totally thought you were making that up. ^_^

Snavvy - I will do my best to serve you a delectable buffet of meaningless fluff. ^_^

Arm - you did? That's so COOL! you should definitely try to find the story. I love finding stuff I wrote when I was a kid. Well, usually. Sometimes it's just embarrassingly crappy, LOL!

Dragonfly in Amber isn't as good as the first book, but it's OK. And, well, Jamie's still hot;-)

So you're saying that Billy is beautiful on the inside too - sigh - you know where to find us when the infatuation calms down...

Yeah, I did know that. Why do you think my Jewish mother named me that? But not everyone knows that it is referred to as a palindromaticalistic name since it also means Schweitzer in Gawpodelarian. I have always said that language is funny how it occasionally finds itself in other tongues. Why, just look at what the French do with theirs.

I just finished The Historian. I liked it. Let us know what you think of it.
I'm currently reading Wicked, which my lovely hubby gave me for Christmas.

"devoid of any real substance"

Huh, this is why I come here. I don't like to think when I read blogs. I really hope Gutter MuNKi isn't cheating on you with Billy Blanks.

Substance contains too much fat, and like, omg, way too many carbs.
Fluff!

We're all embedding ourselves into literature...ok, books.

Interesting - must be the season. What does GM read?

Blargh! Blogger ate all my replies. Dare I try again?

Snowcrush - so far I agree with your assessment. ^_^

Joe - yep - BILLY is beautiful all over. Speakinawhich - love your new pic, but then I loved the old one, too. ^_^

Gawpo - Your Jewish mother was one canny lady. But what about your Sicilian one?

So did the name make the man, or was your Jeweish mother just highly perceptive?

My Goy father named me, but I have as yet to become an Ethiopian queen. Go figure. *shrug*

You'd get on well with my sis, the cunning linguist (no, realli!)

I hear the French do some interesting things with their lingual appendages, but I hear they do unnacceptable things with snails, as well, so I'm not sure I trust them. ^_^

Tshsmom - get OUT! Wicked is on my "want to read it" list, too! A bunch of us were discussing it at TKD yesterday morning, and have been over the last week or so. One dad said it was like a "train wreck" that he just had to keep reading, LOL!

Egan - Heh! Good point. :-P Okay, I'll amend that to "more devoid of substance than usual."

Logo - who needs carbs? (unless it's shortly before class) Yay Fluff!! Fluff! Fluff! you're the Stuff. . . er. . . I was never a cheerleader so I can't pull this off. :-P

TG - I guess it must. Weird, isn't it? GM is into warlike books and things with twisty turny passages all the same (ever play Zork?) He likes Tom Clancyish stuff. Right now he's reading Ward Carroll's "Punk's _____" series. Generally he goes for "military thrillers and Linux books" LOL! Though he LOVED Ender's Game. I think that's the only sci-fi I've gotten him to read. OH - I did get him to read H2G2 of course. ^_^ He's never been a big sci-fi dude. I'm trying so hard to get him to read Dune. I think he'd love them seeing as they're more political than sci-fi. I did FINALLY get some other peeps to read those after YEARS of no one taking me up on it.

Literature is overrated. Books, rock. Mark Twain put it best when he said something to the effect that Lit is the stuff everyone knows they're supposed to have read, but no one has actually gotten around to reading. ^_^
