Tick, tick, tick, tick
~Sometimes too much power is a bad thing. Such as when I do something like replacing "Amina" with "Chopra" and end up with words like "contChopration."
~I procrastinate writing by looking for new wallpaper for the computer. I tell myself it will be inspiring. Sometimes it is, but not usually for the right reasons.
~My teakettle doesn't whistle; it moans. This has disturbed me for years.
~When I come up with a new idea for a story I putz around on the computer doing all kinds of weird crap (see this post) before I write. I'm not sure if this is pure, unadulterated procrastination, or if the story seed is actually germinating in my brain while I do this.
~I don't feel my age. At all.
~I love the internet. I love being able to hear a song in a film, look it up, and print out the sheet music for free. (I'm generally drawn to the public domain classical stuff.)
~Playing the piano is a great way to procrastinate/germinate. Hunting for new sheet music doubly so.
~I love tax whatever-they're-called checks. It's time for a laptop! :-) (I gave mine to Mollusc for her b-day)

Typical
After dragging myself to the top of the steps again and switching laundry from washer to dryer, I sit my great intentions (and somewhat leaden legs) down at the laptop. Inexplicably, I feel compelled to check my mail. MuNKi is on, which reminds me that I was supposed to look for energy gel thinggies online. I surf, chat MuNKi about it a bit, and finally find a decent bargain.
The children awaken and (shock) expect food. We do the food thing and I finish reading "Pure Dead Trouble" aloud to them. (Well, duh, aloud. I guess I didn't need that qualifier. It's not like I'm telepathic or something and can broadcast my thoughts into their heads, though that would be really convenient at times. Though also possibly disastrous.)
The phone rings, and a child answers it before I can tell them not to.
The children launch on chores and schoolwork. I do more laundry, sweep and mop the floor to the strains of Genticorum and find stuff to put away. Quite possibly the entire basement could use a cleaning. I fight the urge.
The phone rings again. Again a child answers. (Note to self: must implement non-answering protocol.) MuNKi is reminding me that the kids and I were going to clean out the car today. I spot my art quilt lying over the back of the rocking chair and decide to hang it up before it gets trashed.
More stuff begs to be put away and the phone rings again. No, please NOOOOooooo! For some reason, more laundry wants doing as well. I check my history book bids on eBay and accept my niece's Facebook invite. I troll and play a bit on Facebook. Bloody Facebook. I really mean to open up that document and keep writing, but my notebook is in the other room while Facebook is conveniently in my lap.
I get my notebook and finally sit to write, but first I need to blog about it all. . .
Is it any wonder?

The 5 Stages of Writer's Block
2. Blogging cessation (because you realise you're doing it instead of writing.)
3. Avoidance/Procrastination
4. Hyperactive blogging and picture posting (some scales may class this as a subset of #3, while others call it bargaining ("if I can look at just one more blog, I'll get back to the story.") )
5. Inspiration and breakthrough! (And then, inevitably, back to 1. Repeat.)
Guess what stage I'm in now.
It's hard (TWSS) for me to say the words "tunnel of fudge cake" without giggling.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I have a delinquent tooth fairy's ass to kick. Again. If you're wondering whether I can, indeed, kick my own ass, the answer is yes. But I also made a BEAUTIFUL attack on the mirror wall at TKD tonight during blindfolded squeaker sparring. MuNKi tells me that the mirror never saw it coming.
Batwoman I am not.

A Week's Worth of Random Stuff
OK, Peeps. As usual I have been a sucky blogger. This week I completed my 38th trip around the sun - something I've been working on for close to 40 years now. I also read and reviewed two books. I think I used the word 'vivid' in both reviews, to my embarrassment. But oh well.
I taught my last 2 after-school classes of the year (Hallelujah, Jaffar!) and found that I was finally recovered enough from my sprained ankle to do jumping kicks once again. (Also Hallelujah, Jaffar! And WHEEEEEeeee! as well.)
I pulled out a lot of weeds (thank goodness for the minidisc player!) sewed some stuff, and took some random photos.
Marathon pics:
(high-fiving Sluggie at the finish)
You may remember when I cut this out nearly a year ago. You may remember that I was pretty clueless about what size to make. As I sewed, it became quite obvious that it was not going to fit me, so I thought it would go to Mollusc. As it turns out, the 6 darts sucked up a lot of fabric, and it was even too small for her. Sluggie was the very happy recipient. Here she checks herself out in the barthroom mirror:
I like the collar, and the covered buttons were fun to make.
Though, they hardly show up. ^_^
There's been a lot of gardening going on. Today when I was planting marigolds around Gogo's garden (to discourage bun-buns) I saw a mama spider covered with babies. I've seen them tons of times hauling their egg cases around, but never with their teeny little babies before. The grey fuzzy stuff is actually their tiny little semi-translucent legs.
And I decided that I needed a clothespin bag to act as a 3rd hand outside when I'm hanging the wash, so I Googled some pics and decided to rip off this cute design. However, I need a ton of clothespins, so I made mine a little deeper. The fabric is multidirectional, though I guess from the front it all looks sideways. Poop. It also looks a little wonky since I filled it with clothespins, but by the time I realised that, I was too lazy to take a better pic.
We put up the tent in the backyard today, and are all going to sleep out there tonight. :)
Oh, and I guess the fairies have taken up residence in our garden. I hope they can do something about the snake grass.
Here's hoping you have a Fairy Wonderful Weekend. :)
