In the last 2 days, we (and by "we" I mean MuNKi) have produced 30 some jars of cherry jelly and 4 larger jars of cherry jam. Mostly I just helped grab things, squeeze stuff, and pour goo here and there.
We didn't have any fiascoes, and I think all of the jars went "plink." (the noise the lid makes when it sucks down and seals as the stuff cools)
My mission today (should I choose to accept it) is to discern which area bookstore is going to have the ass-kickingest midnight Harry Potter release soirée.

Cherry jelly?
Yum.
And I totally love that sound canning makes.
Um, plink? Did you really have to explain that aspect to the masses? We're smart people yo!
Amanda - I love the sound, too. ^_^
Egan - This from the guy who asked if there are beaches in MI. ;)
No no - not 'plink' - 'bink!'.
Sort of like the Wench.
I've always had this weird fantasy about canning. It seems like such a great thing to do, preserving something delicious. Then the joy of opening the jar in winter and savoring the treat.
Many years ago I canned apricots, tomatoes (with garlic cloves). It was very hot work, of course, being summer, but the labors paid off months later!
Yum!
Love the pic of MuNKi mud wrestling! I gotta get my hubby to try that ;)
Yes, and I was dead serious about the beach question yo! Are we still on for next week?
MuNKi - Watch it! I have a scimitar. I might lob it at you, and then where would you be, eh?
Cameron - It really is satisfying, isn't it? Oh yum! Tomatoes with garlic!!
We've been really, REALLY lucky with weather. It's been lovely and cool - perfect for canning.
Claire - ^_^ Great pic, huh? It's not actually MuNKi. I just find bizarre pics to link to for MuNKi photos, but I think it would be a blast to try jelly wrestling. ^_^
Egan - You so were not. Are you still coming? Poor N-Po!
That is cool. We live next to a cherry orchard, and I so wanted to make a bunch of brandied cherries, but I only had one jar.
Still, that one jar is going to be awesome around Christmas.
Diesel - NEXT to one?!?! Sweet! Uh, got a link for that recipe?? :)
Yes, still coming.
Cherry ANYTHING. I love cherry pie, jam, jelly, cherry tortilla shells, ice cream, cherry cigarettes. You name it; if it's cherry, I love it. Favorite pie, hands down.
Efo - Cool! You gotta come see us then. Starbucks OK?
Gawpo - So cherry is OK then? ^_^ I'm not touching the pie thing. No, really I'm not.
Hands down, Candace. That was your friggin' queue. You aren't gonna "bite?" I'm shocked.
