It's Summer

and I'm reading, reading, READING!!

Right now I'm in the throes of the following:

Lamb (absolutely hilarious!)

Elric: Song of the Black Sword (recommended many times over by a friend and proving to be very interesting, indeed)

The Forest House (I loved The Mists of Avalon, so this has got to be good, right?)

and the audio book The Secret of Lost Things.

Our second library's summer reading program has kicked off, which is the one that has an adult program, too.

And last weekend, we went to the beach for the first time this year. It was gorgeous. Now it's too cold, but I know there are lot of great beach days ahead of us. Ahhhhh, summer! :)

Yay for books! I'm reading Twilight right now...it's pretty good. I needed an easy book right now and young adult fiction seems to work perfectly with my mental state right now.

We just signed up for the summer reading program yesterday.

Hey, any suggestions for my 10 year old daughter? She is looking for a new book and while we checked out a ton, she hasn't found "the one" yet. I figure if I ask someone who has kids that like to read, I'll get some good suggestions.

Armie - I really enjoyed Twilight! :) I recently finished listening to the audiobook. Sluggie is reading Eclipse right now and I'll swipe it from her when she's done, though I see from Book Me In that I shouldn't expect TOO much from that one. Sounds like 3 is good, though. I love YA fiction! :)

Tori - My nearly 11 yo loved Twilight. She is also a HUGE fan of the Warrior Cat series by Erin Hunter. The first one is called Into the Wild. Both the Bigs also LOVE the Guardians of Ga'hoole series by Kathryn Lasky. The first is The Capture. Their 11 yo cousins adored them, too. OOh, how about the Septimus Heap books? The first is Magyck. (I think that's the right sp) On a completely different theme, how about the Chasing Vermeer books? There are 3 now. Mollusc recommends the Moomintroll books, but those can be hard to get hold of here. If she likes funny stuff, Arabelle's Raven by Joan Aiken is a scream! The sequels are, too. :) Sluggie is rooting hard for the Warriors books as I ask for more suggestions. ^_^ I'll see if they can come up with any more. .

Awesome. I will write them down and see what she thinks. I knew you would have great suggestions!

I just read Freakonomics. It was pleasantly easy to read, darn interesting and thought provoking.
Hmmm... that's me, thinking, about freaky economic shit.

Tori - I hope one of them speaks to her. :)

Claire - That book keeps coming up. I should probably read it. :)

Egan - Actuellement, non.

Your opening reminds me of the movie Clue: "I'm shouting, I'm shouting, I'm shouting!" I just watched it recently :)

I feel like such a bum when I read your blog. I took 3 books with me on my trip, and I don't think I opened any of them...still haven't. You're pretty inspiring.

I browsed through that Lamb book a little, but it didn't do much for me. I guess I'm a pretty tough audience.

Always meant to read some of those Elric books though.

Kitkat - Your trip sounded so busy I don't know how you'd have had time to read! I have so many going, cuz I'm good at losing things, so I start another. Also because I sometimes have the attn span of an ant and suddenly want a different genre than I'm currently reading. :)

Diesel - No? Man, I laughed my butt off. :) Well, diff people do have diff tastes. (insert highly inappropriate joke here) Check out Elric. I'd never heard of them until my friend told me about them. And then he kept checking to see if I'd read them, so I had to. ^_^ He's slogged through the Thos Covenant books 3 times, too, just like me, and we're always asking each other for reccs.

I am in the middle of several books as well...I actually prefer to only read one at a time, but I got started on several and there's no turning back now!

Happy reading!

Ghostwalk by Rebecca Stott is what I have my head in at the minute. Interesting....

I am a total book whore but I'm a slow reader so it's a bad combo. I have such a huge list of books I want to read and it takes me forever to get through just one. Ugh!
