'Tis the Season. . .

. . .for 6,000 catalogues to arrive daily. Scary. I think my mailbox is part TARDIS.

Speaking of TARDIS and words that sound like that, what's wrong with this picture?

I guess that's their way of making sure they never have to send anything out. Ever. I don't know why I bother teaching the kids proper English. It's not like anyone else out there is going to care by they time they're employable. Or even know what proper English is. (No, that's not a proper sentence. But you can do that on blogs. For emphasis. Like that. Also in books. Like the one I'm listening to now. By Dan Brown. Which has quite a bit of improper grammar. But. In dialogue. So maybe it's. Forgivable. Even though the people speaking are supposed to be. Really smart. Whoa. This is turning out like the opposite of a James Joyce piece. ^_^)

BG and I did have plenty of fun on Wednesday, much of it spent laughing ourselves silly over Eddie Izzard bits on YouTube. I want to share the love. And this one seems particularly appropriate considering that A) BG and I were also laughing over a woman my SIL knew who asked her "what language they speak in England" and B) how much I could have used the Scrabble word Eddie mentions in the game I'm just finishing losing. ^_^

And finally, Autumn Zephyr had this on her blog a few days ago. Fun! Funny, too, LOL!

"Because there's a fucking H in it!"

Oh, I love this one...after the time you posted that Star Wars Cantina one a few weeks ago, all I did ALL DAY LONG at work was watch these clips.

Bad grammar is all over the place. I'm guilty of doing it in blog comments, but yeah - it's to emphasize a point. But it would get annoying hearing someone speak like that in a book on table. Ugh.

And since I'm going for longest comment ever on your blog, I'll transcribe what the stars say about me:
LIBRA - The Artist
Nice to everyone. (um...sure) Silly, fun, and sweet. Have own unique appeal. (that's what we're calling it? Unique?) Artistic. Strong mentality. Loves attention. (Yes, yes I do) Diplomatic. Consoling, friendly and solves people's problems. (Hmmm...I do!) Brave and fearless. (unless driving from the Chicago airport to a hotel...then not so brave...I actually kind of turn into a pussy) Adventurous. Suave and generous. Usually have many friends. Enjoys to make love. (Again, yes I do...but is that sentence wrong? Shouldn't it say "enjoys making love"?) Emotional. (you could say that) Good memory. (usually, yes...but not lately) Moving, motivates oneself and others. Loves to travel and explore. Sometimes sexy in a way that only their lover can understand. (and how!) Most caring person! However not the one you wanna mess with (You're damn straight on that!)

Ah, how I adore Eddie Izzard! ^_^

I don't generally mind bad grammar in an informal setting, like a blog. In fact, I find it entertaining when used purposely and well. (if that makes sense, LOL!) But, yeah, bad grammar in a book or book on tape is annoying because it's WRONG and your brain (well at least my silly brain) goes "Hey! Hold the phone! That was wrong! It should have been. . ." and by the time my internal dialogue is finished, I have to back the CD up and listen to all that I missed. It just yanks me out of the story. Blah.

I love your horroscope comments. ^_^ I think driving to or from the Chicago airport would turn anyone into a pussy. Although it's less horrific to me after living in CA.

Great clip. :)

Eddie Izzard speaks fluent French and has the courage to do his shows in French when performing in France.

Admirable, given that for all their many virtues, the French can be a tad unforgiving of non-French people making mistakes en parlant Français.

Humour is probably the hardest thing to translate-- with potential exceptions being James Joyce's Ulysses, or Lewis Carrol's Jabberwocky.
Someone actualy translated the nonsense of Jabberwocky. Though into what language I don't know...)

I find it hard to believe that anyone could beat you at Scrabble without cheating, C.
He or she must have looked in the bag when choosing the letters.

Winters - I've heard that about the French. You'd think they'd be glad that people were bothering to try. I guess not. I hear the same can be said of the Germans, though. At least so says my friend (from Spain - she is a very talented and multi-lingual person) who married a German. :)

Jabberwocky might be easier since it would be hard to tell if you'd gotten anything wrong.

Winters - Sigh. You are VERY good at cutting off my escape routes. Or my scoring moves. You seem determined to keep me from scoring on you, in fact. Hmmm. . .

I have 4 letters left. Don't I get to eke them out to the bitter end? Oh well, they were all Us and Is anyway. . .
