Business As Usual

I was looking for funky little bag ideas (to sew) and found this on someone's blog. I really want to see it. I know the actual birth stuff will make me all teary, but in a good way. :)

You know what? I have that in my netflix queue! The one part where they said that they are scaring women into thinking they can't handle birth or whatever (that's not verbatim, I know) is the exact reason why at first I was considering an elective c-section! Crazy, I know...but it was all because of fear! And yeah - from what I've read and watched on TV (stupid TLC with their baby stories), hospitals are very quick to go to the surgery route rather than letting nature take its course.

They can be very gun-jumpy with C-sections. That's one reason I chose homebirth this last time. I have an AWESOME book I would love to send you. It's the best birth book I ever read. I didn't find it preachy, just very informative and inspiring. It had great suggestions, too, for pain relief. It addresses C-sections too (among many other things), and not as an "evil" (as many books do) but rather discussing the emotional aspects of it and how to cope with what you feel if you have to have one. It is my favourite birth book in the whole world and I try to get copies of it whenever I can to send to pg friends because it helped me so much. :)

Oh, I'll need your addy.

Michael is laughing now at the idea of me mailing anything. But maybe I'll finally take his books to the PO on the same day. ^_^

I've been on the hunt for a good pregnancy book! I've been devouring everything I find about being knocked up! I found one that's pretty good but even that has the author's personal opinions about certain things. I'm also very interested in different approaches to pain-relief. Because while I personally have never had to take large amounts of medication or be put under any kind of anesthesia, other members of my family have and they all react very badly.

Anyway, I'll email you my address!

It does look interesting. It's kinda funny how I don't seem to have any desire to have children, yet I seem to have acquired some pretty strong opinions about childbirth (I figure if I'm most comfortable at home, my delivery will be calmer) and homeschooling.

Amanda - Yep, it's hard to find good ones that aren't preachy. :-P

Kitkat - I was definitely calmer at home. Some people would be more anxious, though, fearing that something could go wrong, so it really depends on the person. And hey, nothing wrong with forming your opinions on anything! :)
