Insubstantial Evidence

I love Red Dwarf. I wanted to find a clip of "There's an emergency going on," or Cat spraying everything with cologne ("This is mine. This is mine. . .") but no dice. So in lieu of that, the backwards bar fight:

Gosford Park was a great beginning for a movie, but it ended just when it was getting going. In my version there would be more humour, and a lot more people would have killed whatsisname. And then the last bit would have been some outrageously ridiculous character also having killed him, probably accidentally. Additionally, I would tack on an ending to the whole Parks thing, instead of cutting it off in the middle. Other than that, I enjoyed it. ^_^

Real post tomorrow.

I looooooooooove Red Dwarf! Unfortunately, no one in my current social circle has seen it. Sigh... I have a lot of work to do. My favourite episode was the one with the Rimmer song.

If you're in trouble he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless come what may
Without him the mission would go astray
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer

Without him life would be much grimmer
He's handsome, trim, and no-one slimmer
He will never need a zimmer
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer

More reliable than a garden trimmer
He's never been mistaken for Yul Brynner
He's not bald, and his head doesn't glimmer

Master of the wit and the repartee
His command of space directives is uncanny
How come he's such a genius? Don't ask me!
Ask Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer

He's also a fantastic swimmer
And if you play your cards right
Then he just might come round for dinner
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer

No rhymes left now apart from quimmer
He'd better fade us out before we get to schlimmer
Fade out you stupid plimmer

My Aussie roomies and I laughed our heads off when we heard this song.

LOL, Jaichan, I saw several YouTube vids of that when I was looking for my clip. ^_^

There's also a Rimmer song outtake. Actually, there are a lot of Red Dwarf outtake vids on YouTube.

We have a bunch of the DVDs. I first learned of RD by finding the books, which are a scream. I think the backwards scene is even funnier in the book. Years later I encountered the show on PBS and later on BBCAmerica Of course most (all?) of my friends have never heard of it. :-P

One of my favourite shows there, C.

I was an avid fan when it was shown in the UK the first time round. No sci-fi book, movie or show was safe from the Dwarf's smeggy satire scalpel!

LOVE Red Dwarf!
We play the theme song on the radio show every couple of weeks,it gets a fair few fans ringing up lol.
Gosford Park - yep it was needing a second installment and that horrid man could have tripped over that dog or something equally silly.

"In my version... a lot more people would have killed whatsisname."

Now there's a twist that Alfred Hitchcock never thought of. Instead of multiple murders, and one killer, multiple murderers and one victim.

I haven't seen Red Dwarf before, fun times! I'll have to check out more scenes, on UTube?

I've never seen Red Dwarf. That scene was excellent. A "bar room tidy"!

Bos - how YOU doin'? ^_^

Winters - I think it's hard to miss when you have sci-fi, comedy AND satire. ^_^

Bugs - ooooh! You do a radio show? How cool! I think we should make a YouTube sequel to Gosford Park. ^_^

~d - if you're talking about Winters, I agree ^_^

Joe - are you sure he didn't? It sounds kind of Hitchcocky. I thought they were off to a great start with 2 murderers. ^_^

Snowbug - yep! YouTibe has a bunch of clips. Have fun!

Diesel - great, huh? ^_^ I like the whole concept of the Cat character, too. He's evolved from Lister's cat (while Lister was in stasis for 3 million years) and though he looks quite human, he still has a lot of cat characteristics. ^_^
