Gorgeous Weather = No Blogging

We are in the blissful days of early Autumn here. Leaves are beginning to turn; birds are flocking up; the air is gorgeous during the day, crisp and cool at night. Delicious.

It's not that I've been outside more than usual, really. But the time I spend indoors has been spent in slightly more creative ways than blogging, I guess. And at night, I just want to read or play the piano. I'm also avoiding cropping pics and uploading them. Silly, but there you are. I have some neat ones, I think, and I'll try to get them up soon.

On The Boy's birthday we went to Kensington to picnic. We had our favourite spot all to ourselves and discovered a new little beachy thing we hadn't found before. The kids swam and
GuTTer MuNKi and I enjoyed ourselves on the bank and wading in the shallows. I should have taken the camera, but didn't.

Today I went out to the butterfly garden to take pics of a pretty Tiger Swallowtail and ended up seeing a hummingbird, too. He was sampling all the various flowers. I got a few pics of him, but he was hard to catch on film - or pixels, I guess. I'll post the best along with the other stuff. Eventually.

I had the great misfortune to step on a
cat brush today. It stuck in my heel by 2 of the nail thinggies and hung there until I pulled it out. Ish and blah. I had to do something else before I could attend to my wounds, and when I looked down, there was a lovely puddle of blood on the floor. And then I left a nice gory trail while hopping for the First Aid box. :-P No pics of that either.

Today was the first day in what seems like a long time that I haven't gotten a headache. I'm not usually a headache person, but they started after I got smashed in TKD a few weeks ago. Actually,
GuTTer MuNKi got thrown on my head. (short but boring story) I thought it was because my glasses were so out of whack, but getting them straightened didn't help. Then I realised, duh, head trauma. I guess it's pretty common to have headaches for several weeks after something like that, but I'm glad they seem to be done. I hope I didn't lose any important brain cells.

We went to a party at the house of another TKD family on Saturday and now I desire to have a firepit. They had a bonfire and it was lovely. All the boys and men were drawn to it like flies. I don't think a single one of them got out of there without adding more wood to the fire. We chucked the football around a lot (and me in a dress, LOL!) and talked and ate and toasted things in the fire and just generally had a good time.

With Fate's perfect timing, we got a cool postcard from
Peter from Athens today. Perfect timing because our history leson had mentioned Athens. The kids were very impressed. :-) Thanks, Pete! :-) OPA!! LOL!

My book is calling me. Oh, if you like Jane Austen, I HIGHLY recommend The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler. Such a funny book, with such an Austenish ending. :-) And a fast read, too. But now it's back to Outlander, which (like many books before it) has deposed Covenant, muahahahaha!!

I know Joy very well, too well perhaps. How's your foot? See what you get for owning kittens!!

Looking forward to the pics. Before I clicked on the link I thought cat brush was some variety if pricker. Ouch! I hate stepping on sharp pointy objects.

I think as long as you have enough brain cells to worry about losing some brain cells, you are probably mostly fine. Oh, you need to remember how many kids you have and how to get to the library too, then you are golden.

Happy, happy, joy, joy, Egan. :-) My foot is not so great. I'm gimpy. Hopefully it will be better soon cuz I teach 2 classes and have my own class and sparring tomorrow. :-P

Me, too, Toby. Hate it, hate it, hate it!!! Ack!

Logo, that's reasurring. I do remember those important things, as well as my library card #, so I'm good to go. :-D

OMG, Outlander!! By Diana Gabaldon? One of my favorites. My best friend and I, in highschool, read it and the following sequels (because our English class sucked, as seniors we were required to read only 8 chapters of the Odyssey, so we read the Illiad and the Odyssey in a month and then spent the rest of the year reading what we wanted)

Isn't Jamie one of the hottest 'print' charactors?!!

TSmom - ugh. :-( We're still having lovely days, though I believe rain is on the way.

Egan - well, no Bloglife anyway, LOL!

Ldbug - Welcome! Yes, The very book. It's really sucking me in. You and your friend were very wise indeed. :-) I'm about halfway through and can't wait to read more. OMG, Jamie is so very Grrrrrr!! (although I would kick his ass if he tried that belt thing on me, LOL!) Some people say that Gerard Butler would make a good Jamie. I would probably hyperventilate and die.

I miss your blogging prowess, but understand.

Oh, I know! The belt pissed us off too! I'd almost forgotten that part, since I read it sooo long ago. I just re-read all the series, though. I'm actually on The Firey Cross which is one I didn't read the first time around..there's a new one too A Breath of Frost, I think, Anyway, I'm not as thrilled with the sequels, but still, ahhhhhh Jamie:-)

You could blame it all on a donkey. They like to give random head kicks.

Well Candace, stepping on a cat brush is probably better than mistakenly combing your hair with a horse comb. The teeth are very sharp, and can wound the scalp.

You see, the grass is always greener...

Like Slim Shady, I'm back, I'm back.

The brain cells you lost were the weaker ones. Which is probably a good thing.

I always blame my glasses for my headaches too.

Man those postcards arrived quicker than I thought they would! That's awesome! Greece is joining modern society after all...

With great weather comes great responsibility (to get a tan). Remember that!

That hurt just reading about stepping on that brush! Hope you're feeling better.

I'm worried about your headaches. If you got hit in the head hard enough for headaches, you should see a doctor.

I don't want to scare you, but I've heard that people can go for years not knowing they've had brain trauma from a simple bump on the head and the damage can be lasting if something isn't done about it.

Again, I hope I'm not scaring you, but I'm worried about you. Hope those headaches go away soon!

((((HUGS))))

Egan, that's mighty fine of you :-)

Ldbug, I just bought one of them at the used bookstore yesterday. I think it was The Fiery Cross. I'll be collecting them as I find them, that's for sure.

Winters, Holy Hell that must have hurt!! The grass is very green indeed right here, LOL!

Pete, Welcome back!!! How were your flights? I was kind of working on a less geeky tan today. Well, maybe not, since the whole back of this shirt is stretch lace. It might turn out to be rather more geeky, in fact.

Blonde, I told MuNKi I'd go to the doctor if they didn't improve in a week or so. From what I read, it's pretty common to have them 4 weeks or so after the trauma. They're definitely getting better, so I'm not too worried. I didn't have nausea or blurred vision or anything. MuNKi checked my pupils after the smshing incident and they were fine, too. But, yeah, I will break down and go if they don't continue to improve. Oh, and my foot is much better now. Thanks! :-)
