Opening Pandora's Box

OK, so that brings a lot of things to mind, but what I'm talking about is ♥♥♥♥♥ Pandora ♥♥♥♥♥

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!

OK, 'nuff said. Moving on. . .

Tonight I taught the 5-8 year old class for the first time since last schoolyear. What a blast! I've missed teaching that group, but I had forgotten just how much fun it really is. When they're that age, they are way impressed by ANYTHING you do. Case in point, tonight I was explaining the Dodgeball variation at the end of class and whistled with my fingers to get their attention. You'd think I'd shown them I could fly or something. ^_^ They try hard, too, because they still want to impress you at this age. One stern word or look is usually enough to quell any goofing off, and a smile or spoken word of acknowledgement or praise makes them work twice as hard. I love being able to help them learn new stuff, to see their faces when the proverbial light goes on, to be there when they overcome a hurdle they've been pushing against. Ahhh, happiness. It's good to be back.

Can you teach me stuff too?

Pandora rocks!

TKD...guess what? I think we're really gonna do it! We decided that we can't let cost get in the way...there are a few other things that we spend money on that we don't need that will allow for TKD. Woot!

Aren't the little ones the best?

That said, the kids that scare me the most at school are the little ones who act like they are 35 and have zero respect for adults. I have a list of names to check out should I ever end up missing, because I know one of those little brats is going to be a serial killer someday.

Egan - "can" and "will" -- different words, different meanings. }:->

Will you be impressed if I whistle with my fingers?

Armada, Spanish - w00t!! You are teh pwn!! That rocks! I'm so excited for you! :)

Claire - they really are fun. And easier to teach than the 3-5s since they have a longer than gnat-like attention span. ^_^ Oh yeah THOSE kids are bad news. The gym just kicked out a couple like that. It's nice to have that as an option.

Ok, now I have to check out this Pandora thing. It appears to be musical in nature and I love me the music! It is so cool having young kids listen to me like I'm this smart all knowing wise-man. I just don't get that type of appreciation at work.

I did a pretty craptastic job of explaining it, didn't I? OK, so the deal is that you pick something you like, such as Nickelback, or in your case something like Barry Manilow, or perhaps Engelbert Humperdinck. ^_^ Then Pandora will start with that and go on to play music for you that is similar to the thing you chose and you can tell it whether or not you like the stuff, and there will be lots of suggestions for other things along those lines. It is AWESOME!!!

Michael C said...

Oh my God!! Are you kidding me? How awesome is that? Tell me it includes Christmas music...I mean in a few months...not now. I only like one Englebert song, thank you very much. It's called 'After the Loving.' Seriously now, how cool is that title?

You know, I really need to stop commenting so freely...

C said...

OMG Michael! You're killing me! I only put that because you and MuNKi seem to have such similar tastes and he likes ONE Engelbert Humpydink song (about which I torment him somewhat shamelessly) and guess which one it is? ^_^

Good grief. You 2 must have been separated at birth or something. Were you born in IA by any chance? ^_^

C said...

And please do NOT stop commenting so freely. I love it. :)

C said...

Oh, and I don't know about Christmas music, because I've been playing with my Nickelback station (Puddles of Mud, Default, 12 Stones. . .) Man is this thing gonna suck up a lot of my time. . . ^_^

C said...

er Mudd. Puddle of Mudd.

Michael C said...

Nope, not in Iowa, but we could still be related. How the hell did Pandora know to play George Jones when I opened the site up? It's freaking me out, but I LOVE it!!!!

egan said...

I see nothing has changed here. Wonderful.

C said...

I dunno. It's freaking BRILLIANT! It's playing all kinds of stuff that I'm not nearly cool enough to know of but am loving!

C said...

Hullo Egan!

What? Didn't you like my mini violin concerto?

GuTTer MuNKi said...

Uh, Michael...

I see your George Jones, and I raise you George Strait (Amarillo By Morning).

BTW, I have 2 KILLER christmas albums for you:

Joy: A Holiday Collection by Jewel
and
Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan

Has anyone ever told you that you have exquisite taste in music?

C said...

HA! Get a room you two! ^_^ My face hurts. ^_^

Michael C said...

Munki, Has anyone ever told you how brilliant (and quite possibly brave) your musical tastes are? Seriously, seeing me Jones with Amarillo By Morning? I'm speechless!!! BTW, have you ever heard Chris Ledoux's version of Amarillo By Morning?

Now back to the 70s. There is another group I am tempted to mention. Ok, more of a duo really...

The Carpenters?

Captain and Tenille?

C'mon... let go. Don't hold back. Real men aren't afraid to admit that they own not 1, but 2 Partridge Family albums. Or that they spent the last 90 minutes rockin out to Rick Springfield and kicking Freecell's ass (32-2).

For example.

Michael C said...

Wow, you are good!! Yep, it was the Carpenters all the way!!! Wow!

Although I do like The Captain and Tenille thought you might guess them. And I must add here that Helen Reddy's version of Delta Dawn has such a great beat, especially the beginning few verses!!!!

C said...

You two should start a blog of "Music to Listen to Under the Cover of Darkness." ^_^

Well, I go along with the Jewel and Sarah choices, ans (shhh) some of the Partridge Family stuff, though I'm cluless on Armadillo in the Morning. (that's how I read it initially)

Oh, and I can do Carpenters:

We'll be right
We'll be right
We'll be right
We'll be right back

After we
After we go to the baaaaaathroooooom!

^_^

Michael, do you ever sleep? Not that I can say anything, really. :)

I was struck by the cruel mistress named Insomnia last night...afreakingain!

A music blog is very tempting!! But I have enough trouble just living real life between my blog and my podcast site!!
;-)

C said...

Maybe it was because you were so thrilled to find a musical soul-mate. ^_^

I'm concerned about the musical upbringing of your girls. ;-)

Joe Jubinville said...

I used to babysit that age group and had a blast. They go haywire at age 11.

The Captain and Tenille? Rick Springfield? Arrgh, my ears! That box is well named.

C said...

Hi Joe! :) Yeah, they are so much fun at that age. :) I'm lucky that the ones that stay in TKD as they get older tend to be really good kids, but yeah, I've some doozies in the outer world, LOL!

Yeah, very appropos, non? ^_^ Tell me what your sation would be. Jazz?

Michael C said...

To quote the Carps, me and Munki 'have only just begun...'

Yeah, I said it...

:D

C said...

Grooooooaaaaaaan! ^_^

OK, I have fond memories of hearing that stuff as a kid, but I just don't feel like listening to it these days, LOL!

Michael C said...

Ha!!!! I guess flashbacks aren't always a good thing ;-)

C said...

True. What's your opinion on Flashdances?

Michael C said...

I may blush, but I could probably handle them. I guess it all depends on what music is playing though ;-)

C said...

Har!! ^_^

tshsmom said...

Munki can listen to music with me anytime!! I ADORE Rick Springfield!

C said...

LOL! I got him a Barry Manilow CD from the library today. Without a bag over my head or anything. How much do I love this man?
