Tomorrow is The Big Day - testing for Sr. Red belt. If I pass, the next belt is Bo Dan or "temporary black belt" and the one after that is Black. I'm not nervous yet. My knee is doing OK. We did a gruelling sparring exercise Monday night and, oddly enough, it's been feeing a lot better since then.
Tonight we got to try 3 midair kicks. 3 kicking bags were lined up in a row and we had to run, jump and try to kick them right, left, right, while flying past. I was so sure I finally had it down, only to find out I was NOT kicking the first bag at all, kicking the second twice (R, L) and the third once. Poo. :-P How I could do that and not see that I wasn't kicking the first bag is still a mystery.
My left bun is sore from doing high hook kicks last night. The Master (tall - 6'2") held a paddle with his arm fully extended up over his head and had me hook kick it. I truly didn't think I could hit it, but somehow I did. 15 times. (OK I think I missed once) And now I'm sore, LOL! Well, between that and trying to hold my sidekick forever for the pics last night. . .
But overall, my status is good. I'm not sick (thank Goodness!) or injured other than my standard knee thing, which shouldn't affect kicking at all. I know the answers to all the questions, so it's just a matter of not brain-wiping anything. And not throwing up. And making myself keep kicking even when it feels like I can't breathe or lift my legs anymore.
OK, I am a little nervous already, but mostly I'm in denial.
